    The company is currently seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Designer.


    The Senior Mechanical Designer is a member of the Airport Baggage Handling engineering team that reports to the Group Engineering Director.  This position will work under the direction of the Lead Senior Mechanical Engineer and/or Project Engineer.  This position will participate in the design and detailing for conveyor equipment, platforms, header steel and other conveyor system components.  The Senior Mechanical Designer will learn to take on more complex engineering responsibilities such as system layouts, structural design and field support.


    Major Areas of Responsibility

    • Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, or computer-generated reports.
    • Strong knowledge and actively engages in the design and development of mechanical conveyor systems for Airport Baggage Handling projects in the AutoCAD 2D and 3D environment, including checking.
    • Skilled in BIM coordination, Navisworks experience desirable.
    • Mentor other designers in layout and detailing tasks.
    • Able to lead the work of other designers.
    • Assist in new department designs and concepts.
    • Assist in new department in cost cutting measures
    • Prepares creative designs or related drawings or details.
    • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
    • Experienced in testing and commercial installation and commissioning efforts. This includes office and/or site involvement.

    • Engineering and Technology — Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services.
    • Has knowledge of a variety of ABH concepts, practices, and procedures.
    • Production and Processing — Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.

    Education & Experience

    • Degree from CAD training school. A combination of relevant work experience with industrial automation or material handling systems design may also qualify.
    • 4 years of experience as a Mechanical Designer in developing similar systems. Exceptionally skilled designers may have a shorter time line.
    • AutoCAD experience in 2D and 3D.
    • Experience in Inventor, preferred.
    • Experience with material handling systems, preferred.
    • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.

    Demonstrated Physical Abilities

    Remain stationary for 50% of the time; move/traverse throughout the office to access file cabinets and office equipment; operate a computer and other productivity machinery; inspect documents; communicate with others through talking/hearing; read/identify/assess forms and correspondence.
